Terms of Service

Effective: July 30, 2026 · Montessori Makers Pilots · Montessori Makers LLC · Governed by Illinois law

Agreement

By creating an account or purchasing access to Montessori Makers Pilots (“the platform”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms are between you and Montessori Makers LLC, an Illinois limited liability company (“Montessori Makers,” “we,” or “us”).

The platform and what it provides

Montessori Makers Pilots provides asynchronous online coursework and a certification process for individuals working in or entering Montessori classrooms — including substitute teachers, classroom assistants, and paraprofessionals. Completion of the program earns a Pilots Certification, which requires both course completion and a verified classroom observation.

Certification is not a teaching credential, is not accredited by AMI, AMS, or any Montessori accrediting body, and does not substitute for formal Montessori training. It represents completion of our proprietary curriculum and verification of a classroom observation.

Accounts

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
  • One account per person. You may not share your account or credentials.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Payments and refunds

Individual certifications are priced as listed on the pricing page. School seat passes are annual licenses.

If you have not accessed any lesson content, you may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase by emailing info@montessorimakers.org. Once any lesson content has been accessed, no refund is available. School seat passes follow the same policy: if no seats have been activated and no content has been accessed, a full refund is available within 7 days of purchase.

All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store payment card information. By purchasing, you agree to Stripe’s terms.

School seat passes

  • A seat pass grants access to a specified number of seats for one school for one year from the date of purchase.
  • Seats are reassignable: the school administrator may revoke and reassign a seat to a different person at any time.
  • Seats are not transferable to a different school.
  • Renewal is required annually to add new participants. Existing certificates earned by prior participants are not revoked when a pass expires.

Certification and certificates

  • A certificate is issued only after both the relevant coursework and a verified classroom observation are complete.
  • Individual certifications do not expire. School seat passes must be renewed annually, but certificates already issued to participants are permanent.
  • Certificates include a public verification URL. You may share this URL with schools and employers.
  • We reserve the right to revoke a certificate if we determine it was obtained fraudulently (e.g., observation not actually completed, account impersonation).

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share login credentials or circumvent access controls.
  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute course content without written permission.
  • Submit a false observation verification (claiming an observation occurred when it did not).
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

Intellectual property

All course content, materials, lesson text, and platform design are owned by Montessori Makers LLC and may not be copied, distributed, or used to create derivative works without written permission.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Montessori Makers LLC’s liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid for your certification in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from your use of the platform that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to binding arbitration in Chicago, Illinois under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You waive the right to participate in a class action. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking emergency relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the revised terms on this page and update the effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
